About
Infernal Overdrive is a large rock and roll band shaped in early 2008 when Marc Schleicher (fmr. Quintaine Americana [Wikipedia, MySpace, AllMusic], Cracktorch [MySpace], Antler, Liquor Tricks [MySpace]) of Allston , Mass. began jamming with Mike Bennett (fmr. Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook]) in Red Financial institution. Shortly they obtained Abundant Miele (fmr. Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook]) on board taking part in second lead guitar. Through some of their early displays, Jake Metz (Godzero [MySpace]) joined the band on bass, but he was before long replaced by Keith Schleicher.
Their sound is a mixture of their classic influences these as Led Zeppelin, Blue Cheer, Cost-free, Grand Funk, Cactus, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd and newer hefty bands like Kyuss, Nebula, Soundgarden, STP, QOTSA and Monster Magnet.
Biography
Rumors abound that someplace in the depths of New Jersey time stands nonetheless and it is often 1977. Trapped in this interstellar time warp, generating electric amageddon is Infernal Overdrive. Fronted by the mysterious, oft reckless Marc Schleicher (Cracktorch [MySpace], Quintaine Americana [Wikipedia, MySpace, AllMusic], Antler) – a Boston native transplanted in time and room to this 4th dimension – summoned by the all-powerful duo of Mike Bennett and Abundant Miele of Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook]. Following a treacherous research to uncover his long misplaced brother, Keith Schleicher was sucked into the vortex to fulfill his destiny on bass guitar. They journey in the final of the V8 interceptors, proving on their own deserving of the Small Stone pedigree. Forces to be reckoned with on their personal, as a group their surprise crew powers activate to kick into Infernal Overdrive.
Armed with their wits, New Jersey dialect and a enthusiasm for surviving the likes of the Tall Male, flying orbs, large sharks, the Turnbull AC’s and an occasional household of albino zombies, Infernal Overdrive will be coming to an area in the vicinity of you quickly. Can you dig it?

Evaluations
Assessment by The Obelisk / Stoner Rock:
Infernal Overdrive Kick into Gear
With creation by Andrew Schneider (Throttlerod, The Brought Lower, Hackman) and mastering by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East in Boston, there is no doubt that New Jersey riff rockers Infernal Overdrive are heading for that Small Stone Information sound. The four tracks that comprise their new self-titled EP fall in line with the sort of easy guitar-led rock the Detroit label has proffered for properly more than a decade now, and with a comparable southern/classic ‘70s impact to New York’s The Introduced Low, Infernal Overdrive seem remarkably aware of what they are performing sonically. More so than you may well count on for a band just releasing their 1st EP.
The story goes that when guitarist/vocalist Marc Schleicher (ex-Cracktorch [MySpace], Antler) moved from Massachusetts to central New Jersey, he acquired hooked up with drummer Mike Bennett and guitarist/backing vocalist Abundant Miele (both ex-Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook]). Keith Schleicher (relation assumed) was additional on bass and Infernal Overdrive began rocking out early 2008. The EP was recorded more than two days in February and four in April, and even though that would seem speedy, none of the songs feels rushed or underdone. Schneider, who also exhibits up on further backing vocals, makes his mark audio-wise in the tone of Schleicher and Miele’s guitars and Bennett’s snare audio, which has the very same pop Schneider has grow to be identified for – not way too vivid, but able to lower through the mix and propel the songs ahead. Some of Schleicher’s sales opportunities, as on EP closer “Motor,” experience a minor also thought out, as well structured exactly where what I’d like to listen to is a minor bluesy ‘70s recklessness, but they get the work done nevertheless, and the vocals are in no way out of place.
Though the highway for which it is named runs down via the whole East Coast, there is no query that when Infernal Overdrive open the EP with “I-95,” they are speaking about Jersey. The song is a southern-hued guitar rocker that sets the tone properly for the three tracks that adhere to with an ear towards rock traditionalism and, when again, like-minded Small Stone major-hitters Sasquatch, Dixie Witch, et al. It’s challenging to argue with the method when it operates as effectively as it does on the speedy “The Edge,” which forgoes central Jersey’s status for hefty psychedelia in the type of Monster Magnet in favor of Halfway to Gone’s stripped-down take on rock. “Duel” slows down the tempo somewhat but nonetheless retains a mid?paced groove that tends to make use of some well?positioned lead lines that start the tune reminding me of Iron Maiden filtered via Nebula’s druggy haze. Only “Motor,” which devolves into an prolonged jam that brings the track to a complete of just below 12 minutes, is more time, as the songs on Infernal Overdrive go in buy from shortest to longest. Whether or not that’s on function on the portion of the band, I really don’t know – I’d picture at minimum putting “Motor” last is – but I suppose it’s as excellent a technique of business as any.
There’s a small message from the Devil after “Motor” finishes up, and that’s the conclude of the EP. Infernal Overdrive are out fairly quick when you consider their initial release is only 26 minutes and a few of the four songs take up about eleven of it. No complaints however, as the 4-piece know specifically how to get the most out of their sound and present specifically that on these tracks. It is a hell of an investment to make with a self-introduced debut to hook up with the likes of Schneider and Zampiello, but Infernal Overdrive make the most of Schleicher and co.’s collected knowledge, and occur off sounding self-confident and notably mature for a band who’s been jointly less than three several years. It might not be modifying the video game, but Infernal Overdrive is certainly value checking out for anybody who would like to hook into some reliable and unpretentious hefty rock.
Critique by Reducing Edge Rocks:
A few many years in the past we reviewed a sturdy up-and-coming Jersey band Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook]. Effectively, it looks they dissolved and morphed into Infernal Overdrive. The new band is two elements Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook] (drummer Mike Bennett and guitarist/backing vocalist Wealthy Miele), a single component Cracktorch [MySpace], Antler (guitarist/vocalist Marc Schleicher) and one particular aspect brother (bassist Keith Schleicher). Mike contacted me letting me know the band formed after Marc relocated from Boston and set up store in Jersey. He sent along the EP for my listening satisfaction. And a satisfaction it is! The songs are baked in southern ‘70s tough rock with catchy riffs and a lot of electricity rumbling in the pipes. The information is sketchy but according the record’s liner notes, the 4-song EP was recorded this yr in Brooklyn, NY over 5 days (Feb 27, 28 & April 17, eighteen, 24, 25). Production was handled by Andrew Schneider (Throttlerod, The Introduced Reduced, Hackman) with mastering by Nick Zampiello. Fans of our website will quickly make the Small Stone link and that would seem to be where the band are heading as the vibe is defiantly Detroit retro.
Get for instance “I-95” which opens the disc with a sound guitar wail and foot-stomping drum beat. Tambourine is additional for taste but the song bellows like fellow Boston-natives Roadsaw, mixing biker thunder with a Pat Travers/Leslie West riff-fest. 2nd track, “The Edge” is pure old college Nugent, such as the repeat riff and frantic, almost MC5 delivery. Schleicher voice is ragged and all set to rock. The drums hammer and the bass drives laying down a strong bed for some alluring solo leads. “Duel” has far more Fu Manchu in the groove. It’s mostly in the chorus, but the create in the verse is still really Scott Hill/Brant Bjork. The track also boasts our preferred solo – frayed, not about played and sparked with cosmic power. “Motor” is a 13-minute stoner masterpiece. A major bottom stop brings to head Sabbath, Sasquatch and Mountain. The riff is clear but thick with a layered solo painting in all the small nuances – best for a psychedelic journey. The echo on the vocals provides to the songs dripping mysticism whilst the guitar is permitted to float, pierce and melt the mind. Yeah, it only four songs, but dude, someday that is all you require when they’re this great.
Assessment by Large Planet
I just lately had a chance to listen to some new materials from thee men and I’ll tell you appropriate now, this is a band to be on the seem out for. They’re heading locations. Their sound is straight up southern stoner rock. If I had to evaluate them, I would say they’re a little bit harder edition of The Brought Lower. Checkout the common social media spots (links under) to hear what I’m conversing about and maintain up to date with all their happenings because you are going to certainly be listening to from them once more.
