About
Infernal Overdrive is a hefty rock and roll band shaped in early 2008 when Marc Schleicher (fmr. Quintaine Americana [Wikipedia, MySpace, AllMusic], Cracktorch [MySpace], Antler, Liquor Tricks [MySpace]) of Allston , Mass. began jamming with Mike Bennett (fmr. Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook]) in Red Financial institution. Soon they got Prosperous Miele (fmr. Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook]) on board enjoying second lead guitar. For the duration of some of their early displays, Jake Metz (Godzero [MySpace]) joined the band on bass, but he was shortly replaced by Keith Schleicher.
Their audio is a mixture of their traditional influences this kind of as Led Zeppelin, Blue Cheer, Totally free, Grand Funk, Cactus, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd and more recent large bands like Kyuss, Nebula, Soundgarden, STP, QOTSA and Monster Magnet.
Biography
Rumors abound that someplace in the depths of New Jersey time stands even now and it is usually 1977. Trapped in this interstellar time warp, generating electrical amageddon is Infernal Overdrive. Fronted by the mysterious, oft reckless Marc Schleicher (Cracktorch [MySpace], Quintaine Americana [Wikipedia, MySpace, AllMusic], Antler) – a Boston native transplanted in time and area to this 4th dimension – summoned by the all-potent duo of Mike Bennett and Wealthy Miele of Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook]. Right after a treacherous search to find his extended misplaced brother, Keith Schleicher was sucked into the vortex to fulfill his destiny on bass guitar. They journey in the final of the V8 interceptors, proving themselves worthy of the Modest Stone pedigree. Forces to be reckoned with on their own, as a group their ponder staff powers activate to kick into Infernal Overdrive.
Armed with their wits, New Jersey dialect and a enthusiasm for surviving the likes of the Tall Guy, flying orbs, giant sharks, the Turnbull AC’s and an occasional family members of albino zombies, Infernal Overdrive will be coming to an area near you soon. Can you dig it?

Review by The Obelisk / Stoner Rock:
Infernal Overdrive Kick into Gear
With manufacturing by Andrew Schneider (Throttlerod, The Brought Lower, Hackman) and mastering by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East in Boston, there is no doubt that New Jersey riff rockers Infernal Overdrive are heading for that Little Stone Documents audio. The four tracks that comprise their new self-titled EP fall in line with the kind of straightforward guitar-led rock the Detroit label has proffered for properly over a decade now, and with a related southern/classic ‘70s influence to New York’s The Brought Low, Infernal Overdrive appear remarkably conscious of what they are doing sonically. More so than you might assume for a band just releasing their 1st EP.
The tale goes that when guitarist/vocalist Marc Schleicher (ex-Cracktorch [MySpace], Antler) moved from Massachusetts to central New Jersey, he acquired hooked up with drummer Mike Bennett and guitarist/backing vocalist Abundant Miele (the two ex-Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook]). Keith Schleicher (relation assumed) was added on bass and Infernal Overdrive commenced rocking out early 2008. The EP was recorded over two days in February and 4 in April, and though that seems quick, none of the songs feels rushed or underdone. Schneider, who also reveals up on added backing vocals, makes his mark sound-smart in the tone of Schleicher and Miele’s guitars and Bennett’s snare audio, which has the exact same pop Schneider has turn out to be known for – not as well brilliant, but in a position to cut through the blend and propel the songs ahead. Some of Schleicher’s leads, as on EP closer “Motor,” really feel a tiny too believed out, also structured where what I’d like to listen to is a little bluesy ‘70s recklessness, but they get the task done nevertheless, and the vocals are by no means out of location.
Even though the highway for which it is named runs down through the complete East Coast, there’s no query that when Infernal Overdrive open up the EP with “I-95,” they are talking about Jersey. The tune is a southern-hued guitar rocker that sets the tone nicely for the three tracks that adhere to with an ear towards rock traditionalism and, as soon as yet again, like-minded Modest Stone major-hitters Sasquatch, Dixie Witch, et al. It’s tough to argue with the strategy when it works as well as it does on the speedy “The Edge,” which forgoes central Jersey’s popularity for heavy psychedelia in the design of Monster Magnet in favor of Halfway to Gone’s stripped-down take on rock. “Duel” slows down the tempo considerably but nonetheless keeps a mid?paced groove that makes use of some well?positioned lead lines that begin the tune reminding me of Iron Maiden filtered by way of Nebula’s druggy haze. Only “Motor,” which devolves into an prolonged jam that brings the monitor to a somme of just under twelve minutes, is lengthier, as the songs on Infernal Overdrive go in order from shortest to longest. No matter whether or not that’s on purpose on the component of the band, I don’t know – I’d imagine at least putting “Motor” final is – but I suppose it’s as great a strategy of business as any.
There’s a quick message from the Devil after “Motor” finishes up, and that’s the stop of the EP. Infernal Overdrive are out fairly swift when you take into account their first release is only 26 minutes and 3 of the 4 songs just take up about eleven of it. No complaints though, as the 4-piece know exactly how to get the most out of their audio and show just that on these tracks. It is a hell of an investment to make with a self-introduced debut to hook up with the likes of Schneider and Zampiello, but Infernal Overdrive make the most of Schleicher and co.’s collected experience, and come off sounding assured and notably mature for a band who’s been jointly significantly less than 3 many years. It could not be transforming the recreation, but Infernal Overdrive is surely value checking out for anyone who wishes to hook into some strong and unpretentious hefty rock.
Review by Cutting Edge Rocks:
A couple a long time back we reviewed a powerful up-and-coming Jersey band Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook]. Well, it seems they dissolved and morphed into Infernal Overdrive. The new band is two areas Loud Earth [Reverb Nation, Facebook] (drummer Mike Bennett and guitarist/backing vocalist Wealthy Miele), 1 portion Cracktorch [MySpace], Antler (guitarist/vocalist Marc Schleicher) and a single part brother (bassist Keith Schleicher). Mike contacted me letting me know the band formed right after Marc relocated from Boston and set up shop in Jersey. He sent along the EP for my listening enjoyment. And a enjoyment it is! The songs are baked in southern ‘70s tough rock with catchy riffs and lots of electrical power rumbling in the pipes. The data is sketchy but according the record’s liner notes, the four-song EP was recorded this 12 months in Brooklyn, NY above five days (Feb 27, 28 & April 17, eighteen, 24, twenty five). Production was handled by Andrew Schneider (Throttlerod, The Brought Lower, Hackman) with mastering by Nick Zampiello. Fans of our internet site will immediately make the Tiny Stone connection and that appears to be where the band are heading as the vibe is defiantly Detroit retro.
Consider for instance “I-95” which opens the disc with a reliable guitar wail and foot-stomping drum defeat. Tambourine is extra for flavor but the tune bellows like fellow Boston-natives Roadsaw, mixing biker thunder with a Pat Travers/Leslie West riff-fest. 2nd monitor, “The Edge” is pure aged school Nugent, like the repeat riff and frantic, virtually MC5 delivery. Schleicher voice is ragged and prepared to rock. The drums hammer and the bass drives laying down a strong bed for some sexy solo prospects. “Duel” has much more Fu Manchu in the groove. It is primarily in the chorus, but the build in the verse is still quite Scott Hill/Brant Bjork. The monitor also boasts our favored solo – frayed, not more than played and sparked with cosmic energy. “Motor” is a thirteen-minute stoner masterpiece. A large bottom end brings to brain Sabbath, Sasquatch and Mountain. The riff is cleanse but thick with a layered solo painting in all the tiny nuances – ideal for a psychedelic ride. The echo on the vocals adds to the songs dripping mysticism although the guitar is permitted to float, pierce and melt the brain. Yeah, it only 4 songs, but dude, sometime that is all you need when they are this good.
