They get enough money from doing concerts and other stuff. Why should they get that much more money then us regular joes. Sure they should be paid more then us but its ridiculous what people like the Jonas Brothers and other crap are getting paid.
Like someone else said the bands make so much money from tours etc….but I agree the music is less special because you can easily download it.
I think the music industry will always be strong though.
the whole record label and cd distribution thing only works for big major label bands.
for smaller bands who don’t have the luxury of a label backing them, the internet is their only way to spread their music.
i don’t mean to sound offensive here but do you realize the amount of people that buy cds or go to concerts? compare that with the small fraction of people that actually understand how to work limewire/torrents. the difference is huge. while it might sound dramatic, the actual amount of people that use torrents for music isn’t really denting the music industry that much. you could claim that it will drive prices up, but that was bound to happen with the current shape of the economy. artists earn enough off of cd sales and concerts to complain about illegal music downloads. i agree that artists should still be paid for their music, but you have to think about the people that don’t have enough money to spare on a cd or an itunes card or a concert ticket. as an artist myself i can respect that. unless there is some way you can prove that it is truly hurting the industry in a substantial way, there is no hope for illegal programs/torrents being shut down.
I will say that some of those sites can sometimes be essential for people like me, Americans who need their daily fill of Japanese rock and whatever else you can’t necessarily obtain from the store, but yeah CDs are becoming obsolete with websites like Limewire and Frostwire, etc.
I dunno, I think this is a debate that could be looked into a lot further because I can actually see a few pros of downloading music, and I can also easily see the cons…I think I remain neutral on the matter, but if posed with the question “would you rather buy your music from the store or just download it illegally?” I would choose option #1, and that’s assuming in my scenario the question applies to music period, everything.

I like the idea of hearing a 30 or 60 second sample of the song and, if you like it enough to buy it, pay the $ 0.99. I recently bought a CD without hearing any of it and I was disappointed and out $ 12.00. Next time I will listen to the samples first and maybe buy only a couple songs off the album. I don’t think sites should be giving away an artist’s songs unless the artist is paid something. It’s their living.
like car companies the music industry did not change with the times, the price of a single cd can be outrageous.
i found bands that were heavily promoted for their 1 or 2 hits were not worth the 18.00 for the album when you listen and only find 1or2 good songs that have all ready been played to death.
even studio time was limited and mastering was practically pre programmed, some metallica that sold record numbers had bass that sounds like it was machine generated, no impact.
I do think it is people who are greedy but the sites make money for giving what is not theirs, but i have been buying used cd’s for many years and still feel ripped off when i spend 5 dollars on a top selling album that is obvious has only 1 good song.
i think the companies should have done more in the early days to protect their labels by offering them online at a discount.
Why is it so hard to pull down illegal websites??? Because a majority of them are run oversees, in places where copyright laws aren’t as strict as over here. For example, Spain allows for music to be shared as long as no profit is being made. Sweden also has less strict laws on copyright therefore the US cannot shutdown many of the sites, for example The Pirate Bay which was raided but in 3 days was back up and running. Many of the sites, or at least torrent sites, don’t make profit since much of it goes to just running the servers and prevent them from crashing from so much traffic they get daily.
The problem is not the websites and/or kids its just that the music industries business model is outdated and their attempts to curve piracy have alienated people more. A great example of that being DRM (Digital Rights Management) which caused certain songs to only be played in certain MP3 players or be limited to be burned to CD only a few times.
Now another problem is that a lot of the money made from selling music doesn’t actually go to the artists that wrote the music. It actually goes to the record labels. Many artists barely see any money, if any at all. Now you might say with the development of the Itunes store artists get more money… not true. Some artists barely receive anything at all from Itunes and the record labels even go as far as going ahead and offering an artists music without giving a share of the profits to their respective artists.
Now you say “Music is not about the money but artists still deserve there music to be paid for, not stolen”, but how would you like if you wrote music and someone else made a huge profit out of it, with you barely seeing a cent?
This is one reason some bands resort to touring constantly, to be able to keep their music alive, not because of piracy but because they wont see a cent from the record labels.
Now i could keep going but their is way to much, so i suggest you check out the websites i put up on sources, research a bit and you’ll see that their is a lot that hasn’t surfaced here in the US.
Awful sound,
The sound quality of these headphones is below anyone’s standards. No man or woman should ever listen to music like this, plus the little red ear holder thing is not flexible at all and feels really uncomfortable. I threw mine away the second I tried them. There are a couple headphones that sound way better than these and cost no more than 10 dollars more.
Seriously, EAR TORTURE!

My son is a big Red Sox fan and just had to have these earphones. When he first tried them on, he noticed that the sound was not as clear or loud as he was used to from his old earphones, but he still wanted to keep them because they had the Red Sox logo on them. After about 1 week of use, they stopped working all together. Unfortunately it would cost almost as much as they originally cost to ship them back so we just used this as a learning lesson. Please avoid buying these earphones because they’re only for looks – not a quality product.
