Future music tickets question by silverstar: Should we legalise music piracy?
I was doing a debate, I know your opinion. Please consider the following points represent a positive team. – They live shows, and benefits do most of their money from concerts has not been lost on the artists – we are if we were to legalize pirated music is (as is done electronically and all ii) We accept the present and future – music piracy has become part of society, and conversely that it is not is obvious. – And to advance society, please move along with the law – it promotes artists / bands, may increase the sales of tickets to be live for more – popularity and success, the artist now is measured by the amount of songs you download. – Buy a CD there are still options – break the law because many people already, they may thank you as well get rid of it!

A better way to phrase your question would be to legalize music downloading. Piracy is still a crime.

Society has also moved towards solving problems by attempting to kill the person who wronged you, to school shootings, fights that end in death. Should we legalize wholesale violence as well, since society has “moved forward”?

No. The artists are still losing money because people are not buying their CDs. If an artist deems that giving away their music for free would be beneficial to them, then they have the option to voluntarily give it out for free. And “if you can’t beat them, join them” philosophy is ethically incorrect.

I don’t see a difference between music downloading online and going to the library and loan a book. For me, it is the same. They should make it legal or make libraries illegal. Makes no sense to me that music downloading on P2P programs are illegal. It is like an “online library”.

Edit to Erick – If I go to the library and loan a book to read, I won’t buy that book after. Pretty much the same thing right?

Piracy is theft. Similar arguments can be used to support legalizing Identity theft, the IRS keeps the accounts separate, so there is no harm to the legal holder of the ID

If we legalize ID theft, we are accepting the present and future, since it has become so commonplace

ID theft has become a part of society and it is evident that it won’t be reversed.

Society needs to allow those who want to want to better their lives to do so, and the law should move to allow it

It promotes cost saving labor by providing illegal aliens the means to work in this country

There is still the option of entering legally and getting a legal ID

Many people already break the law, so they might as well get rid of it.

Just point out these parallels to the theft being discussed to make the point.
