Sometimes it’s fun to try and get them, but sometimes they are so ridiculously hard to get that I don’t even bother.
Achievements are a lame excuse to keep me playing a game and trying to finish everything. Back in my NES and SNES days, we did everything for bragging rights and because we absolutely loved the game. (Chrono Trigger and Zelda for NES come to mind) Achievement systems seem like it’s a way to keep track of who’s hardcore enough to do waste their time and some of these achievements have asinine requirements that can eat my ass. Games are just not as great as they used to be — case and point.
I just ignore the things, I just hate them popping up on screen all the time.
I like achievements if they give me something I earned, e.g if I did a difficult wow achieve it would give me a title, pet or mount. Not achievements where it’s not an achievement. e.g run about for 1 minute without stopping (Not a real achievement

im ok with them. although i think the way they were best utilized were the original Mass Effect were it unlocked things for new characters (Soldiers could get a biotic ability at creation if the achievement for said ability was obtained) and Battle For Middle Earth 2 (some achievements unlocked heroes for multiplayer)
