LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) – The MTV Video Tunes Awards ceremony is acquiring some roomier new digs.
MTV’s yearly awards ceremony is relocating to Los Angeles‘ Staples Heart this calendar year, offering it a good deal much more elbow room than its previous spot, the Nokia Theatre.
The Staples Heart, property venue to the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Kings, has a seating capability approaching twenty,000 for concert events and special functions, when compared to the Nokia’s 7,100 capacity.
An MTV spokesperson advised TheWrap that the move to the Staples Center will “supply us with an opportunity to execute our eyesight at a new dimension and scale while keeping the intimacy of the musical performances that the VMAs have become famous for.”
“Staples Heart is amazingly thrilled to have the option to host the 2012 MTV Video clip Music Awards,” Lee Zeidman, senior vice president & basic manager of Staples Middle, mentioned of the shift.
Whilst the VMAs have been held at a variety of areas in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Las Vegas because its maiden ceremony in 1984, the Nokia had hosted the function for the past two years.
The 2012 Video clip Audio Awards will be broadcast dwell on MTV on September 6.
